1901

Dribbler not allowed to shoot ball at basket or score points (rule remained in effect until 1915.

1902

Substitutions could be made but only at half time.

1904

Wood backboards were mandatory

1908

In the early rules any player disqualified twice was excluded from matched games for the rest of the season. When a player left the game, he could not return and no substitute could take his place in that half of the game. In 1908 a rule was put in place that would disqualify a player after he committed five personal fouls.

1909

Glass backboards were permitted

1910

Rules were firmly established to describe and allow pivoting and dribbling so as not to travel. However you were not allowed to dribble to shoot at the basket. (remember dribbling was not allowed in the original rules)
