About Us

Guelph Youth Basketball Association

The Guelph Youth Basketball Association (GYBA) was formed in 2006 through the unification of 7 previously existing basketball clubs in Guelph. Our mandate has remained to unite youth basketball under one umbrella in order to provide the best coaching, facilities and overall organizational support to the greatest number of players in our city. This philosophy is what drives us to provide the best quality basketball programs to Guelph and surrounding area youth.

GYBA is a registered not-for-profit corporation established to administer a community-based basketball program to engage all interested participants in a quality athlete centered experience, and to ensure that the mission and goals of our program are followed by all members. We are governed by a volunteer board committed to provide young people in our community the opportunity to participate in programs that teach fundamental basketball skills and important life skills.

Since 2016, GYBA is a proud partner of the University of Guelph Gryphons Athletics. Our partnership provides our 600+ athletes the opportunity to wear the same colours and logos as the Gryphons men's and women's varsity teams. With this partnership, GYBA players also receive the following benefits:

  • Discounts on all Gryphon Camps
  • Free Entry into all Gryphon Ticketed Home Games (Excluding Football Homecoming and/or OUA Playoff Games)
  • Coaching and Mentoring from Current Gryphon Coaches and Student-Athletes
  • Games & Tournaments in new Guelph Gryphon Event Centre (Beginning in September of 2016)

GYBA is built upon two pillars: the Junior Gryphons Development Program, a 9-Division Recreational Program for boys and girls ranging in age from 5 to 18 years of age, and the Junior Gryphons Rep Program, a provincially sanctioned competitive rep program under the governance of the Ontario Basketball Association.
