Coach Recruitment

The Guelph Youth Basketball Association is currently accepting coach's applications for both the Gryphons Rep Program and the Jr. Gryphons Development Program. If you are interested in becoming a coach please contact us today at administration@guelphbasketball.com

We value the time and energy that our coaches provide to ensure a successful program. In addition to giving back to our community, the Guelph Youth Basketball Association make it easy to volunteer and reward our volunteers with additional perks, such as:

  • NCCP Coaching Certification, as required for level coaching (value $325)
  • OBA Membership Fee (value $45)
  • Coaching Shirt (value $45)

NCCP Certification Levels

In order for our coaches to coach in the Ontario Provincial Championships, they must meet certain NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) requirements. NCCP in the past included three major compnents, namely Theory, Technical and Practical and were called Intro to Comp (Level 1) and Intro to Comp Adv (Level 2). Now it is called Learn to Train, Train to Train and Train to Compete.

The following is an in-depth look at the NCCP Certification levels required for each age group for a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach.
