The U15 Gryphons boys basketball team took time out of the busy holiday season to serve the 11 o'clock meal at the Drop In Centre in downtown Guelph on Sunday December 15th. The two coaches, Marty McIntyre and Todd Smiley, felt is was important for the boys to participate in a team-building event that also gave back to the community. The manager, Manuela Basciano, arranged for the boys to serve the meal and help in any way they could. While there, the boys served, washed d...ishes and spoke to the benefactors of the drop in centre. A last minute delivery of large bags of clothing arrived and so the boys helped to unload these bags to the basement. They wore their Gryphon shooting shirts or hoodies and were asked many questions about the team. Both those who work there and the people served were complimentary of the boys and their behaviour. Afterwards, the team shared a meal together at the "Royal Electric" downtown. It was a great day and an eye-opening experience for the team.
